so 7-up has introduced a new soda called "7-up Plus" which has 15% of your daily allowance of calcium in it. is it me, or is it just weird to get your calcium from drinking 7-up? i want no ambiguity in my soda, i want it to be 100% bad for me! now im stuck in a carbonated beverage dilemma.

okay, it was like 98 degrees today and my car has no A/C and i had to drive all over town today to buy shit for the house . . . it SUCKED. it was so hot, i was in such a hurry to get out of my car that i locked my keys inside. oops. luckily the folks were around to bring me the spare. now im off to replacing air filters, installing weatherstripping, and screwing in cable outlet covers. yay! i feel so handy!

p.s. the one thing i most look forward to when i become rich and money is no object (haha . . . right), is that i wont ever have to shop at walmart again. i hate it hate it hate it but it's so cheap it keeps me coming back!

tonight i drove home 3 of my intoxicated friends from a bar. how intoxicated? one of them, when attempting to hit on a girl, told her "you know, you'd have more credibility if you wore your underwear inside of your pants." (she was wearing a thong). it was pretty funny seeing a girl get that pissed off that fast; ha ha!

so i flew jetBlue down from new york to new orleans, and i can see why people LOVE this fucking airline! the planes are all new and clean, the flight attendants are really nice, the seats are soft leather (apologies to animal rights folks), and everyone has a little TV to watch with like 42 channels! then i connected in new orleans to a southwest flight and it felt like flying in a giant dumpster the quality as so different. i wish i could fly jetBlue everywhere!

which reminds me of a funny story. i was on a northwest airlines flight from tokyo to seoul and i kept trying to raise the volume on my headset. so, i kept mashing down what i thought was the volume button but in fact it was the flight attendant call button. and every time you push the button it makes a little "ding" sound. so as im jamming away to whatever was on the radio, you just hear "ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding" through the cabin. i couldnt hear it, of course, because of the headsets! then an angry and irritated flight attendant came over and asked me what i wanted so urgently and i was like, "huh? what? you talking to me? i dont want anything," to which she grumbled something about "don't tell me you've been pushing that button but dont want anything . . ." hahaha!

tomorrow morning at 6:15 am i leave new york to go back to houston. sadly, this also means i must leave amie, who, genius that she is, must stay behind in ithaca to go to vet school at cornell. i have no doubt that she'll be a great vet, but why does vet school have to be 4 years long? i'm going to miss her max +1, but im going to visit every chance i get. we've been together for over 4 years now, so i'm confident we'll be just fine when she graduates. hands down, she's the best!

well, we're back in new york, having returned from vermont and maine. vermont was really cool if you dig watching cows getting milked like i do. ben and jerrys was a little underwhelming, but boy is that maple syrup good. maine was eh . . . acadia national park just isnt that great unless you are REALLY into the ocean and sailing/kayaking. we did see humpback whales, though, which was cool. acadia is just sort of devoid of wildlife, it's kind of depressing. not like yellowstone where you see animals all over the place. plus the place seems to be filled with snotty new englanders. northerners are so rude, it's weird! i held the door open for a group of elderly tourists (at least 20 people) and not one of them said thank you - is that weird to expect at least ONE of them to say thank you? seriously, i met about 2 friendly faces in all of maine - a tour guide and an ice cream scooper. people in maine are also quite unattractive . . . see, things about the south we take for granted, methinks!

welp, amie and i have been in montreal for 3 days now, and it's a great city (at least for the summer). seems like everyone has given up work to enjoy the 85 degree weather. while old montreal is all cute and stuff, where it's really at is around the universities where there seems to be a street festival every night . . . it's just different how everyone of all ages comes out to play, a weird sense of community. plus it's nice to be able to walk around any time of night without worrying about crime. i bet these montrealers take it all for granted, though.

tomorrow we're headed to vermont to go to a maple syrup and cheese factory, and also what amie is looking forward to, the ben and jerry's factory!!

and lastly, off to maine to go backpacking in acadia for three days. that's really what im psyched about - whales, puffins, lobsters . . . fun fun! ugh, and then back to houston. phooey.

i freaking love this commercial. props to burger king for masking intense sexual innuendo in a commercial for a chicken sandwich. ive only seen this commercial ONCE. i think they pulled it because people found it too provoking or something. but there's always the interest to save the day!

yeah, we hate walmart, but we also love being part of media frenzies, so we lined up at 11:45 to get the new harry potter book. sufficed to say, we got it.

also, i think that i am going to retire this journal soon. i started it some three years ago when i began law school, and now i've graduated. i'm also moving back to houston, and since i feel like im entering a different stage of my life now (omg! i'm now a HOMEOWNER with a CAREER!!), i thought it would be a good idea to have a blog enema. im not deleting this journal, i just may not update it as much as i used to. i've started a new livejournal, but the name, as of yet, is secret (unless you are my girlfriend, from whom i can keep no secrets)!!

all right, all right, im a horrible person and splurged on a bunch of ultra light-weight backpacking equipment. i bought a 3 man tent (6 pounds), camping stove (5 ounces!), lantern (7 ounces!), and a mess kit (1 pound, 4 oz). man, if only id had this lightweight stuff a year ago, i wouldnt have had such a hard time in grand teton. well, i have a paycheck coming soon, i'll use it to pay for all this shizzle.
